"Written on the occasion of the public exhibition of Felix Buhot's works at the National Museum of the Luxembourg." Translated from the French by Madame Felix Buhot.

Félix Hilaire Buhot [1847-1898] was a French painter and illustrator. His prints are among the most original made in France during the last quarter of the nineteenth century. Along with artists like Charles Jacque, Louis Monziès and Félix Bracquemond, he is credited with reviving seventeenth-century etching techniques in late nineteenth-century art. However, he was highly experimental and regularly employed technical variables and combined multiple processes to produce a single print. He used traditional techniques of etching, drypoint, and aquatint along with modern methods such as photomechanical reproduction.

Catalog for the October 14, 1995 through January 28, 1996 exhibition at the Museum of Charleroi, with essays by Laurent Busine, Bettina Brand, Caroline Douglas, and Inge Jadi. The 282 works presented in this book were drawn from Professor Hans Prinzhorn's collection of over 6,000 works he acquired from patients in psychiatric institutions between 1919 and 1921. The Prinzhorn collection of manuscripts, paintings, drawings and collage offer a unique insight into art, culture and psychiatry, particularly as they are juxtaposed with the medical records of the artists. These works by unknown artists inspired several of the avant-garde artists of the period, including Max Ernst, Paul Klee and Alfred Kubin.

Laid in is a 4-fold brochure for the Pinzhorn Collection exhibit at the Heidelberg University Psychiatric Hospital. First Edition.
