This sixteen-page booklet was an insert in the August 1973 issue of "Family Circle". It precedes the publication of the book.

This Czech novel about the little fox, Vixen Sharp-Ears, immortalized in newspaper serial form by Rudolf Tesnohlidek inspired Leo Janacek to write his opera. Maurice Sendak, perhaps best known for his children's book "Where The Wild Things Are", designed New York City Opera's production of Janacek's opera and superbly illustrated this first appearance of the story in English. RLIN locates only the copy at the Free Library of Philadelphia. According to the library, "Thomas Neslon & Sons established the London office in 1844; by 1854 they also had a New York office." A copy of the book at The University of Florida includes "New York" in the imprint and is believed to be from circa 1870.
