Six double- page illustrations & 2 full-page illustrations, overlaid with minimal text, each illustration printed on a different Simpson paper. Near fine.

The Simpson Paper Company notes that the contents came from interviews with actress and producer Eleanor Moseley. Each of the seven stages identified as coming together in the finished production is illustrated by a different artist on a different Simpson stock with two artists illustrating "Costume and Make-up". The artists are Lauren Uram, Gary Kelley, Kathy L. Keppler, Eduardo Sicango, Roger Boehm, Alan Klien, Robert Baker and Barbara Maslen with the cover illustration by Susan Greenstein. Media employed include color pencil, watercolor and paper collage, pastel, pen-and-ink, gouache and photography.

The spine of the folding case is slightly darkened with tears to the head & the printed label is darkened & slightly chipped. The slipcase is slightly darkened & lightly rubbed with the top panel lacking. There are tears to the head of its spine & to the bottom panel. 137 & [1] pages plus colophon, partially unopened. Illustrated in color by Pierre Valade with a full-page pictorial title for each chapter, textual illustrations, vignettes & pictorial initials. Near fine in a good folding case & a fair slipcase.

Number 495 of a limited ediiton of 945 copies. The text was originally published in 1533.

The list of illustrations [pages 137-138] has been misplaced and appears between pages 8 and 9 of the text.

- Octavo, 7-3/4 inches high by 5-3/4 inches wide. Three-quarter red calf with decorative red cloth, titled in gilt with gilt decorations between raised bands on the spine. The top edge is gilt. The covers are lightly rubbed. [ii], xiv, 231 & [i] pages plus 8 pages of publisher's ads. Illustrated with 16 full-page black-and-white plates, including the frontispiece. There is minor wear to the bottom of the front and rear hinges. The book's fore-edge and bottom edge are foxed and there is some minor occasional foxing to the contents. An early owner's holograph presentation label is mounted on the front endpaper and his name is stamped on the front pastedown. Very good.

The chapters are titled "The Ring of the Curse" with it's 4 sub-chapters being "The Rhine-Gold", "The War Maidens", "Siegfried the Fearless" and "The Downfall of the Gods". The subsequent stories from Wagner's operas are titled "Parsifal the Pure", "Lohengrin the Swan Knight", "Tannhauser the Knight of Song", "The Master Singers", "Rienzi the Last of the Tribunes", "The Flying Dutchman" and "Tristan and Isolde".

In the rear are lists of the hotels' amenities and prices, with useful information for tourists on consulate, banks, etc. There is a brief, illustrated piece about the semi-feral cats that live in the Savoy's basement.
