The book is housed in a matching slipcase. The book's corners are slightly bumped and there is a slit to the front joint with minor wear to the head and tail of the spine. The rubbed slipcase is broken at the top and a previous owner has titled the slipcase in ink on the front panel. 91 & [1] deckle-edged pages on Van Gelder hand made paper, illustrated with a title page vignette by Will Bradley. Very good in a good slipcase.

Limited edition of 550 copies. Compiled by Kendall Banning.

The text is in French and in English, with the poems, songs and fantasies printed in their original language, be it French or English.

There is light offsetting to the endpapers, else a fine, bright copy in good glassine.

Copy number 212 of 550 numbered copies beautifully printed with blue decorative initials and tail-pieces on Velin d'Arches on the press of Jean-Gabriel Daragnes.

There are a couple of spots of minor foxing to the first 5 leaves. Very good.

Unbound sheets consisting of signatures with 32 deckle-edged pages, including blanks, beautifully printed within ample borders on fine watermarked paper. There are a few minor chips to the edges of a couple of leaves and one of the signatures is separating. A beautiful production.

Number 24 of a limited edition of 150 and XXX (i.e. 30 Roman numeral) numbered copies.

This handsomely printed work was published by Heirich F.S. Bachmair who also published an important Dadaist journal titled "Revolution".

Four brothers, the sons of an old woman, intent on attacking the Aachen cloister are overcome by the music played by the nuns. Their mother, on arriving to the city six years later finds them in the house for the insane where, incapable of caring for themselves, they spend their days as monks praying and singing the excelsis deo. The mystery deepens since the nun who was to conduct the orchestra the day of the impending attack was taken ill that day and no one is sure as to who did conduct the music heard by the sons. This short story by the German writer & dramatist Heinrich von Kleist was first published in the 1810 edition of his literary journal "Berliner Abendblatter".

Fine. - sc A group of 8 signed & numbered woodcuts by John Lehman, each printed on fine paper and laid loose in a plain 10 inch high by 8-1/4 inch wide gray paper chemise. The prints include 2 black & white woodcuts, each measuring 6-1/2 inches high by 8-5/8 inches wide, each is annotated "Miniature Painters - Wash. 1977" in pencil along the bottom. One of the images depicts trees on an island across a lake or river. This image is numbered "15/36". The other depicts a rustic frame farm house next to a barn. This image is numbered "21/30". Both prints are signed in pencil by John Lehman. The other 6 prints are color woodcuts on 9 inch by 8 inch fine paper. One of the images which depicts bare Winter trees is annotated "Miniature Painters, Groves - Washington D.C. 1975" in pencil along the bottom. This woodcut is numbered "13/25" and is signed in pencil by John Lehman. Three of the other 5 color woodcuts depict floral still lifes. These are limited to 50 copies each and are signed in pencil by the artist. Another color image, which depicts a garden within which grow several banners printed with the word "Hyacinth" in blue & red is also limited to 50 numbered copies signed by Lehman. The last, a subtle pastel color woodcut depicts leaves. It is limited to 30 copies numbered and signed in pencil by John Lehman. Apart from one minor corner crease, all are in fine condition.

Number 41 of a limited edition of 250 numbered copies printed by D. B. Updike for the Carteret Book Club at the Merrymount Press in May 1923.

In his introductory note, John Cotton Dana writes that the text is an address given by Thomas L. Raymond to the Newark Schoolmen's Club on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of Stephen Crane's birth and the unveiling of a tablet inscribed to his memory. The address was issued as an appreciation of the man and his work rather than a formal biographical essay.
