In January 1979 a national commission was created to study the deterioration of the architecture and monuments in Rome's 'zona archeologica', to examine the ruinous effects of pollution and heavy traffic, and to propose means of repairing the monuments and protecting the area from further damage. The writers of this book discuss the problems and propose ways of restoring and further excavating the archeological remains. Dust jacket present.
