"The present Catalogue, while frankly a sale-catalogue, has for its aim a much wider and more permanent usefulness....Great care has been bestowed upon the preparation of the abstracts and descriptions of the multifarious deeds and documents which it contains, and their precision and accuracy is such that in addition to their immediate purpose, they provide a treasure-house of information not only for those interested in topography and geneaology but also for the student of social customs and legal forms and their development."
