- Octavo, brown cloth titled in gilt on the spine with frames & decorations in blind on both covers. The binding is rubbed & bumped with the rear cover, the edges of both covers & the tail of the spine chipped. The head of the spine is torn with pieces out of the top of both joints. 391 pages plus 3-page publisher's catalog. Illustrated with 5 engraved portrait plates with tissue guards, including a frontispiece. The pastedowns are a bit bubbled with some rippling to the endpapers & there is an owner's ink name on the front endpaper. There is a piece out of the flyleaf. There is scattered foxing & staining, especially to the tissue guards with some offsetting to the plates & the facing pages. Pages 327-330 are detached but present. Good.
