- Large octavo [approximately 11 inches high by 7 inches wide], softcover bound in pictorial brown wrapppers sewn with black & reddish brown cord. The wraps are bumped & chipped around the edges with a small piece out of the bottom corner of the rear wrap. There are short tears to the head & tail of the spine. [20] pages printed on heavy brown stock plus inside rear wrap. Vignette title & 12 calendar pages with illustrations in shades of gray, brown & yellow and verses for each month on the facing pages. Very good. Rogers Peet and Company, a men's and boys' outfitters, wrote of this calendar in their 1903 publicity: "None of our stores have any for direct distribution--it's too good for a throw-away". The cover illustrations in silver & tan depict a small, self-possessed boy dressed in an elegant sailor suit.
