An in-person autograph signed by Alex Haley for the collector who had put together an album of collages which he took around to concerts, performances, and book signings.

The African-American author Alex Haley (1921-1992) is perhaps best known for his book "Roots: The Saga of an American Family" and as the co-author of "The Autobiography of Malcolm X". He began his writing career after retiring from the coast guard and landed his first interview for Playboy Magazine with Miles Davis, in which the Jazz legend spoke of his feelings about racism. A subsequent interview with Martin Luther King, Jr. was the longest the African-American Civil Rights leader had given up to that time. He published his first book "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" in 1965 and wrote the screenplay for the movie "Super Fly". His 1976 novel, "Roots: The Saga of an American Family" traced his lineage back to Kinta Kinte who was kidnapped from the Gambia in 1767 and transported as a slave to Maryland.

The Norwegian actress Liv Ullmann (b. 1938), whose inscription and signature appears on the verso, was one of the Muses inspiring the great Swedish director Ingmar Bergman. A winner of the Golden Globe, she has also been nominated for the Palme d'Or and the Academy Award throughout her career.
