- Quarto, green cloth titiled in gilt & black on the front cover & in gilt with decorations in black on the spine, in a dust wrapper. The dust jacket is rubbed & chipped with a tear & creasing to the top edge of the front panel. The front panel & jacket spine are somewhat rippled from light internal dampstaining. 428 & [3] pages with an errata slip bound in at the rear. Illustrated with 2 folding maps, full-page illustrations in black & white & color, & black-and-white textual illustrations. The top edge is dampstained & there is light dampstaining to the front pastedown, endpaper & title & to the top edges of many of the leaves. There is offsetting from the folding maps to the facing text pages. Good working copy. Translated from the Russian by David Skvirsky.
