- Octavo, cloth, in a dust wrapper. There are 3 light vertical indentations to the rear cover. The dust jacket is lightly soiled & chipped & slightly darkened. Half-title, title, [2] leaves & 274 pages. Very good. First American edition. Arthur Quiller-Couch left this novel unfinished, with no indication of how he planned to complete it, when he died in 1944. It was finished by his friend Daphne Du Maurier after his daughter approached her in 1959 to ask if she would consider taking it on.
