1 Dane, Clemence [Pseudonym of Winifred Ashton]. (1888-1965). A BILL OF DIVORCEMENT: A Play in Three Acts.
London: William Heinemann, 1921. 1921. Good 
- Octavo, tan paper covered boards titled in black on the front cover & spine. The covers are lightly bumped & soiled with the extremities slightly darkened. The joints are rubbed, the rear joint is split with the backstrip partially detached & there is a short tear to the top of the front joint. The spine is darkened & rubbed with a tiny tear near the tail. Half-title, title, [2] leaves & 92 pages. The page edges are slightly darkened. Good.

First edition.

Inscribed to William Arnold by the author on the date of its premiere on the front endpaper: "W. A. from W. A. (Clemence Dane) / March 14 - 1921". William Arnold's attractive bookplate is mounted on the front pastedown.

Additionally, the book is signed by the entire cast of the premiere on the cast-list page, as well as by the producer, Basil Dean.

From the library of George R.M. Ewing, Jr., with his pictorial bookplate, designed for him by Rockwell Kent, mounted on the front pastedown.

INSCRIBED & SIGNED BY THE COMPOSER RICHARD ADDINSELL WITH SEVERAL BARS OF MUSIC PENNED BY HIM THROUGHOUT THE BOOK - Octavo, burgundy red cloth titled in gilt on the front cover & the spine, in a pictorial dust wrapper illustrated in pastel shades. The covers are slightly rubbed and the dust jacket is darkened and slightly chipped along the edges. xvii, [iii], 134 & [1] pages. There is some offsetting to the inner edges of the endpapers. Very good in a good dw.

First edition. Inscribed by the composer to the play's author Clemence Dane [i.e. Winifred Ashton]: "For Winifred from Dick". The composer, Richard Addinsell, has penned and titled a musical quotation beneath his signature, and penned bars of music on an additional 25 pages throughout the book. A superb association copy.

INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR - Small octavo, blue cloth titled in gilt on the spine, in a color pictorial dust wrapper. The covers are slightly rubbed along the edges. The dust jacket is darkened & soiled with several chips and short tears along the edges. 192 pages. The leaves are darkened and there is a vertical crease to the title page. Good.

First edition. Signed by the author as Clemence Dane on the half-title. Additionally inscribed as Winifred Ashton on the front endpaper: "Victor's copy with love from Winifred". The recipient was Victor Steghel.

A story about the man who brought the great news of the fleet's victory and of Nelson's death in 1805.

- Small quarto [10-1/2 inches high by 8 inches wide], decorative black, brown & white paper covered boards backed with black cloth with a printed paper label on the spine. The top edge is gilt. The boards are bumped & lightly rubbed with the paper chipped around the edges. The head & tail of the spine are chipped & the label is rubbed. Half-title, title, vi & 133 pages, partially unopened. There is occasional light soiling & staining with a larger stain to the bottom margins of 2 facing pages. Good.

Number 115 of a limited edition of 250 copies signed "Clemence Dane" on the colophon.

Additionally inscribed to Victor Steghel as Winifred Ashton on the front endpaper and signed "Winifred".
