- Small quarto [11 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide], softcover bound in printed blue wraps with a printed paper label of the "Hauser Institute, Inc." on the front wrap. The wraps are darkened around the edges & lightly bumped & soiled with some creasing to the bottom edges. Title & 13 leaves, mechanically reproduced & printed on one side only. Illustrated in black & white. The inner & bottom edges of the title are darkened, else the contents are very good. First edition. Dr. Benjamin Gayelord Hauser [1895-1984], commonly known as Gayelord Hauser, was an American nutritionist, self-help author and promoter of "the natural way of eating". He promoted foods rich in Vitamin B and discouraged the consumption of sugar and white flour. He was a best-selling author, popular on the lecture and social circuits, and was nutritional adviser to many celebrities. Rare.

- Small quarto [10-3/4 inches high by 8-1/4 inches wide], softcover bound in printed blue wraps. The wraps are slightly darkened around the edges & lightly bumped with a tiny stain to the front wrap & 3 stains to the rear wrap. There is a tiny tear to the bottom corner of the rear wrap. [3] leaves, title & 33 leaves plus 1-page author's catalog, mechanically reproduced & printed on one side only. The page edges are slightly darkened. There are tiny stains to the verso of the first leaf & a stain to the front margin of the second leaf. Very good. The rare first edition. "The Eliminative Feeding System" is preceded by a prefatory essay, "Now You Can Rejuvenate in Your Own Kitchen", consisting of a pictorial title page and two leaves of text. Here Hauser describes how in a laboratory in Vienna he constructed a "Chemical Man"--an intricate mass of glass tubing resembling a human body--in which the effects of ingesting harmful and healthful ingredients could be observed.
