- Large octavo, softcover bound in printed red & gray wrappers. The wraps are slightly darkened around the edges & there is a tiny chip out of the bottom corner of the front wrap. 75 pages. Very good. A nice association copy inscribed by the composer to fellow composer Virgil Thomson on the front wrap: "For Virgil -- / In admiration of the Virgilian style / Norman". Thomson's circular ownership stamp, "Virgil Thomson Collections" is on the bottom corner of the title page. "A Psalm of David" was commissioned by the State University of New York, Crane Department of Music, Potsdam State Teachers College, Helen M. Hosmer, Director, for performance at the Potsdam Spring Festival, 1951.
