B&W frontispiece & B&W illustrations from title pages of ballads & piano pieces. Lacks dw; very good. First edition. The book discusses the infinite varieties of Victorian song and the picture of Victorian life it presented "in drawing-room and parlour, tap-room and barrack-room, opera-house and theatre, music-hall and nursery, concert hall and Sunday school, on board ship and by the emigrant in exile."
