Very good - Quarto [approximately 12 inches high by 9 inches wide], cloth in a dust wrapper. The covers are lightly rubbed & unevenly faded. The tail of the spine is creased. The dust jacket is lightly soiled & chipped with a small piece out of the tail of the spine. The top & bottom edges are slightly creased. ix pages [prelims & introduction] plus a 246-page section of full-page black-and-white illustrations after engravings by Gustave Dore. Very good. - Octavo, printed cream wraps. Soiled; corners creased with small pieces out; spine creased with tears to top third. 556 & [1] pages, partially unopened. B&W portrait frontispiece & 28 B&W plates & full-page illustrations. The book is cracked at p. 204 & the page edges are slightly darkened. Overall, a good copy of a fragile and rare work.

- Octavo, rust brown cloth titled in gilt & brown with vignettes & decorations in gilt & black. The top edge is gilt. The binding is rubbed & bumped with fraying to the top corner of the front cover & with pieces out of the head & tail of the spine. 271 pages with the text printed in 2 columns. Profuse black-and-white textual illustrations and decorative head- and tail-pieces by Gustave Dore & others. The rear hinge is cracked & the book is lightly cracked at page 192. Good.

First edition.

The author writes in an introductory note: "This volume, committed to scenes connected with Mr. Longfellow's celebrated romance of 'Hyperion', travels over ground already made the common property of various authors, native and foreign...."
