Mme. Hare. "MME. HARE", A VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPH OF HIGH FASHION IN WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE BOIS DE BOULOGNE. Circa [1910]. [1910]. Very good - An 11-1/2 inch high by 7 inch wide black & white gelatin silver photograph depicting ladies attired in high fashion of the period in the company of a gentleman attired in top hat and tails, as they gather in what appears to be the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. There is minor scratching of the emulsion at the very top of the photograph and a couple of small white spots near the bottom. The photograph is mounted from the verso onto a 16-1/4 inch high by 11-7/8 inch wide creamy white mat. There are glue stains along the sides of the mat and a short tear to the top edge of the mat, all of which could easily be matted or framed out. The photograph is in very nice condition. Probably from 1900-1915. High fashion in the Bois de Boulogne was a popular subject for photographers in the early 20th century, including such masters as Edward Steichen and Jacques Henri Lartigue. Steichen's "Steeplechase Day, Paris: After the Races" (1905) is a famous example. The subject of this photo is identified as "Mme Hare" on the verso, probably the wife of T. Leman Hare, the art historian and friend of Gaudier-Brzeska. Price:
