- Small octavo, softcover bound in printed blue wrappers. The binding is lightly bumped. 17 pages plus colophon and 17 pages plus colophon. The top page corners in the first half of the book & the bottom page corners in the second half are lightly bumped. Near fine. The three essays are "Beauty in the Age of Road Kill", "The Subjects of the Abstract" and "Willem de Kooning: Paintings for the Living". The book includes the text both in English and Spanish. It can be turned upside down and read in the reverse direction for the two different versions. White Wine Press No. 5. The press is a division of Smart Art Press, Santa Monica, Calif. The editor of the series is Kevin Power. American artist Jonathan Lasker was born in Jersey City, N.J. in 1948. He studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, Calif. HIs work is included in many collections, including at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C., the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Reina Sofia in Madrid. He has lectured extensively in the United States and Europe.
