- 8vo, red cloth (lightly bumped & rubbed; extremities slightly faded) titled in gilt & black within gilt & black rectangles, in dw (soiled & chipped; pencil notation on rear panel; piece out of tail of dw spine). viii, [ii] & 390 pp. (inner edges of endpapers darkened with ink name on front endpaper). Very good internally. First edition. Lewis's "novel of a young girl on the stage". The quote from Arthur Kulosas on the title page reads: "Until the nineteenth century, actors were classed as Rogues & Vagrants. They were outside of respectable sociey --like Kings--and I am not sure but that this was better for their art and their happiness than to be classed as lecturers, tax-payers, tennis-players, suburban householders, and lovers of dogs."

- Octavo, dark blue cloth titled in dark blue within tan rectangles on the front cover & spine. The binding is rubbed & bumped. The head of the spine is chipped & slightly frayed & the publisher's name at the tail of the spine is almost rubbed away. Half-title, title & 432 pages. The book is lightly cracked at the title. There is an owner's name on the front endpaper & a small area of the paper on the rear pastedown is rubbed away. There are small stains to the margins of a few pages & the page edges are slightly darkened. Good. First edition, first issue [with the "G" on the spine more like a "C"].

- Octavo, blue cloth. There is some very minor spotting to the covers & the spine is faded. Half-title, title, [2] leaves & 451 pages. Very good. Later printing. Inscribed and signed in full by Sinclair Lewis on the front endpaper, with the recipient's bookplate on the front pastedown.
