Good - Octavo, cloth in a dust wrapper. The spine & extremities are faded. There is a crease to the tail of the spine & a small dent to the front edge of each cover. The dust jacket is soiled, chipped & darkened. There is a long blue pencil mark to the rear panel & its top inner corner is creased with a tear along the spine. The head of the jacket spine is torn. 47 pages. Illustrated with a black-and-white portrait frontispiece. Very good in a fair dust wrapper. Price: 10.00 USD

Very good - Octavo, green cloth titled in gilt on spine. The gilt titling is faded. x, 451 & [2] pages. There is an owner's ink name & address on the front pastedown & the front endpaper is very slightly soiled. Very good. Tipped in on the front endpaper is a typed form letter from Eli Lilly and Company, presenting this copy of the book to an unidentified doctor to commemorate his attaining his medical degree. There is a tiny spot of rubbing to the front edge of the front cover. xli, [i] & 792 pages. The title page is printed in red & black. There is some slight eraser damage to the top of the front endpaper. Else, a near fine copy of this substantial tome. Originally published in 1929, this new edition benefits from a new prologue by Lloyd G. Stevenson, as well as new addenda and corrections: "These corrections, accumulated through the last forty years, are based primarily on suggestions left by Dr. Francis, and collated from the annotations in his several working copies.
