Berlin: Verlag Grenze und Ausland, 1939. - Small quarto [10-3/4 inches high by 7-3/4], tan paper covered boards titled in brown with an image of a woman's head in brown on the front board, in a pictorial dust wrapper. The boards are somewhat bowed & the spine is darkened with the head & tail chipped. The dust jacket is chipped with short tears & small pieces out & its spine & its extremities are darkened. 40 pages of text with textual illustrations & 48 color, monochrome & black-and-white plates. There is a gift inscription dated 1940 on the front endpaper. The contents are near fine. First edition. Wolfgang Willrich was a German artist and writer of the Third Reich. The portraits in this book embody the extreme Aryan ideal of a noble, pure Teutonic race--strong and determined with a cold Nordic strain of beauty. During the Second World War, Willrich created portraits of the most important leaders of the German Wehrmacht and also painted portraits for the Political Office of the Nazis.
