A BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OF A VERY YOUNG MARLON BRANDO, SEATED AT THE TELEPHONE IN FRONT OF HIS UNMADE BED, (Brando, Marlon). Harris, Martin
15 (Brando, Marlon). Harris, Martin A BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OF A VERY YOUNG MARLON BRANDO, SEATED AT THE TELEPHONE IN FRONT OF HIS UNMADE BED
circa [1940]. [1940]. Fine
circa [1940].. [1940].. Fine. - sc A 14 inch high by 11 inch wide black & white photograph of a very young Marlon Brando seated on an old-fashioned decorated black metal waste basket in front of his unmade bed. Attired in jeans, dark t-shirt and white socks with black loafers with an old telephone cradle between his feet, Brando holds the phone's handset to his ear with his right hand, his elbows propped up on his knees. Left hand pensively touching the side of his slightly tilted head, his seductive smile brightens his face. Books piled up on an end table next to an old lamp and an open closet which reveals its contents serve as background for this tender portrait. This is one of a very few prints of a photograph by Martin Harris pulled from the original negative in the 1990's and offered for sale at a special fund- raising event. Fine.

Life magazine photographer Martin Harris superbly captures that elusive animal quality which made Brando such a presence on stage and screen.

The photographer Martin Harris (1908-1971) worked for "Stars and Stripes" during the second World War. He later worked for "Look", "Life", "Colliers", and "The Saturday Evening Post" among other periodicals. Two of his photographs were selected as covers for "Life" magazine during his time with that periodical.

17 (Chaplin, Charles; Parsons, Geoffrey) THE SONG FROM LIMELIGHT / THE TERRY THEME / "ETERNALLY" / Music by / Charles Chaplin / Lyrics by / Geoffrey Parsons
New York: Bourne Inc. Music Publishers, (1953). (1953). Very good
New York: Bourne Inc. Music Publishers, (1953).. (1953).. Very good. CHARLIE CHAPLIN WON AN OSCAR IN 1973 FOR THIS MUSIC HE COMPOSED IN 1952 FOR HIS MOVIE "LIMELIGHT" - Quarto, 12 inches high by 9 inches wide. Pictorial self-wraps. 4 pages, including the covers with the music and lyrics to "Eternally" the song from Charlie Chaplin's Limelight. A couple of annotations penned in red & blue grease pencil inside would suggest that this was a working copy for an early performance of the music. The first annotation, penned at the top left of the first page, states: "Cue: 'Life'Music'", followed by an arrow pointing to the first line of lyrics. The second annotation, penned at bottom right of the second page, states: "'F' Belltone for Enjoy Yourself". An additional note is boldly penciled in at bottom right: "BOWS Show Biz". In beautiful condition.

This is the original sheet music for the song, dating from 1953. Limelight was originally released in 1952. However it did not play in Los Angeles until 20 years later, at which time it became elegible for an Academy Award. Chaplin won an Oscar in 1973 for his music for the film.
