The binding is bumped & rubbed and the head of the spine is lightly chipped. 178 pages, including 154 pages of tables. There is some minor foxing & darkening to the pages & there is an owner's faded name on the flyleaf. Good.

A ready reckoner intended for farmers, manufacturers, tradesmen and mechanics.

Profusely illustrated with diagrams & mathematical formulas. The catalog is nearly detached. There is scattered light foxing & the edges of a few pages are darkened. Good working copy, well worth rebinding.

The pastedowns & endpapers are foxed & stained & there is foxing & staining to the prelims & rear blanks. Despite its flaws, a good tight copy.

There are 2 small, light glue marks to the bottom corner of the front wrap with a long crease & a tiny chip along its front edge. There is a short tear to the front edge of the rear wrap. Title, 119 & [3] pages. Profusely illustrated with mathematical formulas. Good.

Kazdan notes that this book is a slightly modified extract from the Harvard University Lecture Notes "Intermediate Calculus and Linear Algebra".

Jerry Lawrence Kazdan [born 31 October, 1937] is a mathematician noted for his work in differential geometry and the study of partial differential equations. His contributions include the Berger–Kazdan comparison theorem, which was a key step in the proof of the Blaschke conjecture and the classification of Wiedersehen manifolds. Since 1966, he has been a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania.

There is some light staining & some pencil markings to the bottom edge of the book. The fore-edge is very lightly foxed with a small stain at its lower end. Very good in a good dust wrapper.

A translation with an introduction and notes by Martin Levey and Marvin Petruck of the "Kitab fi usul hisab al-hind" by the Persian astronomer and mathematician Kushyar Ibn Labban. This treatise is here described as the oldest surviving mathematical text in Arabic using Hindu numerals. Kushyar was writing in the late tenth and early eleventh centuries. Dust jacket present. First Edition.
