- Small quarto [approximately 6 inches square, pictorial blue boards. The corners of the covers & the spine are rubbed. There are 3 tiny black marks to the spine. The tail of the spine & the adjacent corner of the front cover are creased. [16] pages. Profusely illustrated in color by the authors with a black-and-white illustration on the front pastedown. Good.

First edition.

Berta Hoerner Hader [1890-1976] and Elmer Stanley Hader [1889-1973] were an American couple who together illustrated more than seventy books, also writing about half of them. They were awarded the 1948 Caldecott Medal for "The Big Snow". First Edition.

A moral tale about an orphan boy who is being bullied at school. The text is printed in German with an English translation by Paul Standard and a French translation by Alain Villain. First Edition.
