 3. (Roosevelt, Franklin Delano; Churchill, Winston).  A SUPERB ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OF PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT AND PRIME MINISTER WINSTON CHURCHILL WITH THE PACIFIC WAR COUNCIL.
Washington, D.C., June 25, 1942.
- A superb 10-1/2 inch high by 13-3/8 inch wide black & white photograph depicting British Prime Minister Winston Churchill seated next to U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in front of the members of their Pacific War Council. The image was photographed on the porch of the President's Office at the White House on June 25, 1942. Prime Minister Churchill, attired in his traditional gray suit and bow tie, holds his trademark cigar in his right hand. President Roosevelt, attired in a white suit and black tie, bears a black arm band around his left arm. A couple of very faint brown spots affect the left side of the image near the edge. The photograph is identified in ink on the verso. The notation "4 prints" has been penciled in on the verso next to"#7" which is penned in blue crayon. A superb photograph.

The Pacific War Council was established in Washington, D.C. on March 30, 1942 to plan war policy. The council represented the Allied countries of the U.S., Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands and China.

Postmarked from Fulton, MO on May 13, 1965.
- A First Day Cover honoring Winston Churchill. The 3-5/8 inch high by 6-1/2 inch wide envelope is illustrated with a patriotic portrait along the left third honoring the wartime British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The envelope bears the 5 cent U.S. postage stamp which also bears a portrait of Churchill. Near fine.

- Large octavo, bound in brown buckram with a black & white photograph printed on the cloth of the front covers. The front cover of each volume is illustrated with a different photograph. The volumes are titled in gilt on the spines with the volume numbers printed in gilt within gilt-framed red ovals. These six volumes are housed in 2 matching brown buckram slipcases, each also illustrated with a photograph on the front. Several pages of photographs and textual maps illustrate each of these substantial volumes. A fine set in near fine slipcases.

A new introduction by Martin Gilbert is published in the first volume. The set includes "The Gathering Storm", "Their Finest Hour", "The Grand Alliance", "The Hinge of Fate", "Closing the Ring", and "Triumph and Tragedy".
