- 8vo, plain stitched paper wraps (soiled & slightly chipped; tiny tears at head & tail of spine; inner edges of endpapers partially glued to wraps); titled in ink in an early hand on the front wrap. 22pp. Very good. Jean-Marie Roland de la Platiere (1734-93). French revolutionary. Attacked Robespierre and Danton; tried to save the life of Louis XVI. He committed suicide upon learning of the execution of his wife. The pamphlet regards disparaging remarks made by officers to Roland about the French army. LaFayette's 2-page defense of his troops is published on pages 14-15.
