- Small quarto, 11 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide, softcover staple-bound pictorial black & white wraps. The edges of the covers are lightly foxed. 92 pages with illustrations of conceptual art pieces and collages incorporating photographs, art, illustration, and text. Very good. Produced by Vancouver resident John Jack Baylin, "Fanzini" was first published as The John Dowd Fanzine. Baylin, a pen-pal of the American conceptual artist Ray Johnson, started the magazine as an homage to the works of the handsome New York bartender & leatherman John Dowd. Dowd participated in the production of the periodical. Baylin had previously made his name by producing "Bum Bank", a collection of "derriere" images from all over the world, and for his involvement in the Canadian Mail Art Network and Ray Johnson's New York Correspondence School.
