- A sheet of cream-colored paper printed in blue is folded once to form a four-page brochure 8-3/8 inches high by 5-1/2 inches wide. Illustrated with a portrait of Schermann on the 1st page. There is some darkening to the top right corner of the brochure. Very good. This brochure for a lecture tour reprints two pages of an article by Eugene S. Bagger under the heading The Amazing Rafael Schermann and His Rare Gift. Some typical Schermann cases are listed on the 4th page along with the topics on which he wll speak: Handwriting and Destiny, Love and Crime in Handwriting and Anonymous Letter-Writers and Forgers. Rafael Schermann [1879-1945] was a Polish graphologist, self-proclaimed psychic and writer. Born in Krakow, he settled in Vienna in 1910 and worked for insurance companies. He became an expert graphologist and allegedly possessed powers of clairvoyance, second sight and telepathy. Oskar Fischer, a professor of pschology at the University of Prague, became convinced that Schermann was a genuine psychic. He reported that just by touching handwriting samples sealed in envelopes Schermann had been able to give many accurate character descriptions and statements about the writer. Other researchers were less convinced. First Edition.
